THE 10-IN-1 APP FOR WRITERS, CONTENT CREATORS AND BUSINESS OWNERS ALIKE .
Widgetsmith made its debut with the launch of the IOS 14 in September of 2020, in which one of the new features it brought in with it was Widgets. While the IOS 14 allows you make use of widgets from Apps that you have on your phone. It doesn’t do well for the overall outlook of your homescreen (except you don’t mind). Widgetsmith lets you personalize your home screen like never before. It starts with a wide collection of highly customizable widgets that can be morphed into any design of your choice.
Though user friendly, on the first encounter it poses some slight confusions and barriers in use. And this blog post is here to clear all of them!
So when writing my guides, i usually make an instructional one and a video one to ease understanding and this time around is no exception. I will first begin with an instructional guide before moving over to the video guide.
Let’s begin.
STEP 1
We begin by opening our app. Mine looks like this (the picture on the right) because I’ve tampered with it and used it so many times to create widgets. Please know that there is a menu for creating small, medium-sized and large widgets.
STEP 2
Click on the Edit bar on the top right corner of the screen. A menu would come up that looks like the picture on the left. Scroll down and click on Selected Photo. A bar would appear that looks like the photo on the right.
STEP 3
Click on Choose Photo from the bar above and select any picture you wish to use as a widget from your camera roll.
STEP 4 (OPTIONAL)
Once you’ve selected your picture, you can choose to rename it for proper identification when it’s time to use it.
STEP 5
We are now moving to the actual installation of the widget on your Home Screen. Long press your screen to make it all jiggly wiggly. Click on the + sign on the top left corner and a menu will pop up that looks like the picture below (right).
STEP 6
Type in WIDGETSMITH on the expectant bar and the bar that follows will look like the second picture. On that bar, you’ll see options for a small, medium–sized or large widget. Since we designed a medium-sized widget, we are choosing the medium option widget.
If you are lucky enough, once you select the medium widget option, the last widget you designed will come up like the picture below. But IF it doesn’t or if you wish to use another widget, proceed to the next steps.
STEP 7
Long press the widget and a couple of options will pop up. Click on EDIT WIDGET.
STEP 8
As seen in the first picture below, click on the bar that says Widget and you’ll be presented with a list of all your previously edited widgets.
And that’s how you change between different widgets.
Of course, as promised, here is the video guide. Just do well to click on the video below. And don’t forget to comment what you think!
