Hello 👋🏻.
Welcome to another IOS Home Screen edit with me and I present to you, Caspian. This design was something I didn’t plan at all, I just knew I needed a new blog post and fast. But all is well that ends well I guess, because I managed to come up with a great, unique and simple design.
Let me let you guys in on something, I recently bought a new navy blue phone case and I love to match my phone cases with my screen savers. So the inspiration for this Home Screen was a sleek leather navy blue pouch. And I’m going to teach you how to get it.
To achieve this, I’ll need you to get ready a few things for me. Your Widgetsmith app, a color-sequenced template for the design and finally, 45-minutes of your time.
To know more on how to use the Widgetsmith app, check out my video tutorial HERE. And if you want to access the templates for which I used, find it here on my Pinterest board.
Let’s get to work!

EDITING YOUR PRESETS – JUNE
STEP 1: The first step is to open your Shortcuts app, which normally would look this untampered, but mine looks like the image next to it because i have messed with it.
STEP 2: Click on the ‘+’ sign at the top right corner.
STEP 3: A page will pop up, to which you’ll tap on the ‘Add Action’ bar.
STEP 4: Click on the Search bar and type in Open App. Click on the bar that says ‘Open App’ only.
STEP 5: The Open App bar you clicked on will open up a new shortcut, click on Choose and select any app you’d like to be on your homescreen. For my list of Apps, these are them (on the right side).
STEP 6: Once you’ve selected an app, it’ll return to the former interface, except instead of Choose, it would be the app you selected inserted on there. Next is to click on the three dots on the upper right quadrant of your screen, where another page would pop up that looks like the second picture below.
STEP 7: First of all, type in the App’s name that you want to appear on your Home Screen. For example, I downloaded an Oxford dictionary from the App Store, but when it was time to put it on my Home Screen, I changed it to just DICTIONARY. Afterwards, Click on the ‘Add to Home Screen’ bar, where a page would appear like the first image below.
STEP 8: Next step is to Click on the green (it differs in colour) icon next to the ‘New Shortcut’ bar and select the picture you’d like.
Next isn’t a step but more of a pop-up confirmation.
Go back to your home screen and VOILA!
The rest of it is just a repeat process of this. Do that and insert your widgets and you’re good to go on a beautifully curated Caspian home screen.
And as always, here is the video guide for in case of those that aren’t down with the instructional one.
And that’s it for this blog post! Tag me if you do get to design your home screen like this or get inspired to do something like it.
