Hi again! On today’s episode, I will be showing you the easiest way how to turn Lightroom presets into Instagram filters. Be it on the Classic or Mobile versions of the app.
I’ve explained in my recent blog post about Spark AR, which is the desktop app required to make Instagram filters. I shed more light on the use of Spark AR Studio, how you can create your own effects and some very relevant FAQs. I even took the liberty of sharing free spark AR textures that can be used in your design in this blog post HERE.
If you’re like me and you’re more inclined to the Color LUT filters, then you’re in luck. Color LUTs which stand for Color Lookup Textures are tables of RGB color values. In Meta Spark, you can use color LUTs to quickly create color-graded effects across the whole scene. The color LUTs available on Spark AR studio are quite limited, but the very good thing is that you can use Lightroom to add presets onto what is called a Base or a Neutral Color LUT png and apply them to your effect.
Allow me explain.

As you can see, the above image is called a Base LUT image. It is a table of 8 by 8 RGB values upon which edited, can be incorporated into your effect. The summary of what I’m trying to say is that, you can import this very image into your Lightroom Mobile app, edit it within the app or you can paste a preset onto it, and export it back into your spark AR effect.
